Customer Survey

In a recently commissioned street survey, 85% of respondents questioned stated that the WOW! WINDOWS display they were being questioned about would get their attention enough to go into the store.

Retail Success Story # 1

One of our clients, a high-end women's fashion retailer, has one of their stores in a popular shopping centre. When they moved into that particular mall, they chose a key location near the entrance of Eaton's, which would guarantee a lot of passing shoppers. For years, things went well until one day Eaton's announced that it was closing due to bankruptcy.

Suddenly everything changed. Their "prime location" was now in an area of the mall with very little traffic. Business was down but commitments made it impossible to move. Since now few people ever saw it, they stopped decorating the windows that faced that part of the mall and things went along like that for several years.

Eventually a big discount store moved into that space, but our client reasoned that the bargain-hunters attracted to this new store were not the same shoppers that were interested in their more expensive merchandise. They left the windows as it was. In reality, that's exactly what happened. They saw no noticeable change in their sales with or without this new discount store.

However, as more and more people once again started using that end of the mall, they asked us to come up with an eye-catching window to see if might just bring in some curious shoppers. We created a clean, crisp display to show off their beautiful fashion shoes. We lit it dramatically to catch the attention of passers-by.

Almost immediately after installing it, the sales staff noticed an increase in people walking in to ask about specific styles and soon a marked increase in shoe sales.

Retail Success Story #2

When the owner of the shoe store called, she explained that she had just bought an existing business. The person that had been doing the windows was the main Visual Merchandiser in town, but she found that he simply recycled his props and made everyone look the same, regardless of their market or merchandise. She was looking for a company that could give her a distinctive look to separate her from the crowd.

Since WOW! WINDOWS is committed to understanding and reflecting the distinct personality of each client, we rose to the challenge and helped her brand her store into an edgy and distinctive place to go. We worked together for two years building her visual presence.

We're very proud of this client. Recently her store won "Best New Shoe Store in the US" from the US National Shoe Retailers Association.

Retail Success Story #3

When doing the merchandising and window displays for a client opening a beautiful new store in Victoria, we came up with an innovative concept using piles of film-industry ice cubes as props. The ice cubes looked so realistic that many people walking by stood outside the windows for a while wondering why they weren't melting!

That installation caused an amazing amount of attention for the new store and the merchandise.

Victoria has many tourists. During installation, many people knocked on the door demanding to buy the merchandise in the window before they left for home. Unfortunately, the store wasn't open yet but as soon as the store was officially opened, the promotional merchandise in those windows was sold out in record time.

Retail Success Story #4

When taking out the Christmas windows for a client last season and putting in the sale window, we took a break for lunch at the restaurant next door. On our way back to work, there was a loud screech of a bicycle coming to a fast halt. And a male voice exclaimed, "I like THAT!" We looked up and saw that a man had been riding his bicycle on the sidewalk (illegal), had catching the wild image and colour in the windows from the corner of his eye, stopped short while impulsively exclaiming to himself out loud.

We stopped and said "Thank you!" which surprised him. He looked up at us a bit embarrassed, wondering WHO we were. We repeated, "Thank you! We just did that!" He smiled and answered, "Ya. It's awesome. I really like it!" and proceeded to ride off.
